Thank you for your fellowship in the gospel. It has been a joy and privilege to be your pastor this year. I am so thankful to God for the many ways that he works through a family as diverse and gifted as those at 5pm Church.
The first sermon I gave at 5pm Church (back almost five years ago now) was on 2 Corinthians 4 where the apostle Paul encourages the Corinthian Christians to stay true the gospel even when the blinded minds of unbelievers around were unable to see the light of the glory of Christ. He says:
For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.(2 Cor 4:5-6)
Thanks for being a clay jar with me. Thanks for being about Jesus rather than yourself. Thank for showing the light of Christ to the world around us.
My prayer for 2016 is that we continue to use our different gifts to promote Christ and to demonstrate our unity in the gospel so that Adelaide is saved.
Have a wonderful, God blessed and faithful Christmas.
