Sermon – The Eternal Kingdom: The Eternal Message (Isaiah 66:1-24)

Read the text – Isaiah 66

The final sermon of the sermon series ‘Will God help His people’, ends with a challenge. Nick Lindeback speaks on the culmination of Isaiah’s prophecy about Jesus and the coming Judgement, as well as the evidence of grace from God, to answer if God will help His people. And the final important question: will you choose to accept and worship God? This sermon was given at Lower Mountains Anglican Church, Glenbrook evening service.

Sermon – God & Life: End of Life

Read the text – Psalm 139Deuteronomy 30:11-20; Isaiah 65:17-25; Romans 14:1-9

God ends life. God is the author and sustainer of life – from conception to eternity. How does the Christian person live by his timing and determination until he brings you home. In this Bible Talk, Ken Noakes aims to help us think Christianly (Biblically) about the value of life under God’s hand when it comes to dying and death – especially as we live in a world where life can be quietly ended or painlessly prolonged. Our topic: Thinking Christianly about Euthanasia.

Sermon – God & Life: Limitations in Life

Read the text – Psalm 139John 9:1-34

God shapes life. Disability is a normal and good part of God’s creation and whilst that may mean there are limitations placed upon a person (including their reliance on others), Christians should embrace the God’s gift of each person.

In this talk, Ken Noakes opens a discussion about how Christians can think about disability in our fallen world now and suggests a different approach to thinking about disability in our coming perfect world. This will create discussion – agree or disagree – let’s together recognize that we can take steps now to care well for those who live with disabilities as we all wait for heaven.

Sermon – Clash of Kingdoms: Be Ready for the Kingdom (Matthew 25)

Jesus’ disciples ask of Jesus: ‘Tell us… what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?’ (Mt 24:3). His answer to the first part of the question (his coming) was answered in the rest of Chapter (see last post), the answer to the second part of the question (the end of the age) is found in Matthew 25.

Here are two Bible Talks looking at the whole of Matthew 25. Whilst both start the same way – the content of each looks at the chapter in two parts.

Talk 1 – Matthew 25:1-30. The Parable of the Bridegroom & the 10 Virgins + The Parable of the Master and the 3 Servants.

Read the text – Matthew 25:1-30

Talk 2 – Matthew 25:31-46. The Shepherd King & the Sheep and the Goats.

Read the text – Matthew 25:31-46

What Jesus teaches as recorded in Matthew 25 is not complicated, but it can be very hard to hear. What will the end of the age look like? The answer will involve a division. In these two Bible talks Ken Noakes unpacks this extraordinary chapter – to help us hear what can be very hard to hear.

Sermon – Pictures of Judgement and Grace: The Feast of all Nations (Isaiah 24:1-27:13)

Read the text – Isaiah 24:1-27:13

The people of Judah face a number of crises from within (their own sin) and without (the alliance of Israel and Syria, the power of Assyria). Who will they trust to rescue them? Themselves? Foreign Nations? or God Almighty?

In this sermon, Dave Swan shows us a beautiful picture of heaven, with people from all nations coming to the mountain of the Lord, and enjoying the fruit of the vineyard, with death being swallowed up forever. We have seen God’s power over the nations – we now get a glimpse of God’s plan for the nations. In the midst of hopelessness, we hear songs of joy from the most unlikely of places as God’s gospel goes to all nations.

Sermon – Pictures of Judgement and Grace: The Banner of Salvation (Isaiah 9:8-12:6)

Read the text – Isaiah 9:8-12:6

The people of Judah face a number of crises from within (their own sin) and without (the alliance of Israel and Syria, the power of Assyria). Who will they trust to rescue them? Themselves? Foreign Nations? or God Almighty?

In this sermon, Josh Schroder explains how, even though judgement has fallen, God has raised a banner of salvation for all nations, and he will bring his people home. God’s promise of salvation is fulfilled perfectly in Christ, and no matter what calamity might befall us now, our future resting place is secure.

Sermon – Firm Faith: Living under Christ (Colossians 3:15-4:1)

Read the text – Colossians 3:15-4:1

Any teaching that wants to suggest that Christians need Jesus PLUS … (anything else) to be a Christian or to live as a Christian is guilty of contradicting the supremacy of Christ. Being told we need more than him (either for salvation or to live as a Christian) means that we are being taught that what he has done is not enough. We need to stand firm in our faith in Jesus as all we need for this life and the next.

In this sermon, Gary Haddon helps us to understand that every part of life, all our relationships, need to be brought under the authority of Christ.

Bible Talk Outline

Sermon – Apostles Creed: Creator of the Heavens and Earth

For thousands of years Christians have said the words of the Apostles Creed together. Each line contains rich theology and meaning and in this talk Nick Lindeback focuses on the significance of God Almighty as sovereign and merciful creator.

In looking at both Psalm 33 and the doxology of Romans 11 we see God’s sovereignty, mercy and creating power. And in looking at Romans 12:1-2 we see an appropriate and fitting response to God almighty creator of heaven and earth.

Sermon – If loving, God why send people to hell? (Luke 16:19-31)

Hot Topics Graphic

‘Hell’ is a repulsive concept and the one thing that proponents and objectors both agree upon, it is that ‘hell’ is a place to be avoided.

In this talk we look at what the Bible says about ‘hell’. It is real, people really are going there – but there is someone who really doesn’t want you there.
