Sermon – Pictures of Judgement and Grace: The Feast of all Nations (Isaiah 24:1-27:13)

Read the text – Isaiah 24:1-27:13

The people of Judah face a number of crises from within (their own sin) and without (the alliance of Israel and Syria, the power of Assyria). Who will they trust to rescue them? Themselves? Foreign Nations? or God Almighty?

In this sermon, Dave Swan shows us a beautiful picture of heaven, with people from all nations coming to the mountain of the Lord, and enjoying the fruit of the vineyard, with death being swallowed up forever. We have seen God’s power over the nations – we now get a glimpse of God’s plan for the nations. In the midst of hopelessness, we hear songs of joy from the most unlikely of places as God’s gospel goes to all nations.

Sermon – Firm Faith: Contending for Christ (Colossians 1:24-2:5)

Read the text – Colossians 1:24-2:5

Any teaching that wants to suggest that Christians need Jesus PLUS … (anything else) to be a Christian or to live as a Christian is guilty of contradicting the supremacy of Christ. Being told we need more than him (either for salvation or to live as a Christian) means that we are being taught that what he has done is not enough. We need to stand firm in our faith in Jesus as all we need for this life and the next.

In this sermon, Gary Haddon helps us understand that growing in Christ doesn’t happen without effort on our part. It must be pursued, and there will be struggle, but we can encourage each other as we contend for Christ together.

Sermon – Truth & Anti Truth (1 John 1:5-2:6; 2:18-27)

Read the text – 1 John 1:5-2:6 & 1 John 2:18-27

The second in this series from the little letter of 1 John – this talk looks at the contrast between truth and un-truth and more particularly the danger of not thinking that truth is important. Truth and knowledge matter when it comes to faith – so does untruth and error.

In this talk Ken Noakes suggests that if we lose sight of the truth of the gospel, then it is impossible to live by the truth of the gospel.

Address – The Gospel We Proclaim (Romans 1:1-17). Moore College PTC Graduation

Read the text – Romans 1:1-17

God’s official royal announcement, which he entrusted to his chosen representative and slave, Paul, and which is the culmination and fulfillment of everything he has been doing and saying in history, is that Jesus is the promised Messiah and the powerful divine Lord. God’s gospel is not about us, it is about Jesus!

Ken Noakes looks at what Romans 1 teaches us about the Gospel of God, and given this is a graduation address, he challenges those graduating (and listening) to put into practice the knowledge they now have by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus.

Sermon – Easter: Transforming Life (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

Read the text – 1 Corinthians 15:1-11

The resurrection really happened – it changed Paul’s life and it changes us, because it changes death itself. In this Easter Sunday Bible Talk, Gary Haddon, helps the listener to see the transforming power of the resurrection so they can choose to accept and in turn live out their resurrection hope. Listen to hear the gospel preached, the gospel received and the gospel upon which Christians are called to take a stand.

Sermon – Partnership in the Gospel (Phil 1:1-11)

Read the text – Philippians 1:1-11

The Apostle Paul writes to his friends in the church located in Philippi – and he is thankful for their partnership in the gospel. In this talk, Ken Noakes looks at the importance of partnership when it comes to gospel mission and ministry. It is the gospel that shapes our partnership together in church. And it is this partnership that helps us defend and confirm the gospel as we all share in God’s grace together.

Sermon – Foolish Wisdom (1 Cor 1:18-2:5)

Read the text – 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5

The Apostle Paul wrote this extraordinary letter to a church he knew well, yet a church which had got itself into a bit of a muddle. The Christian Family matters so it is important to ensure that Jesus sits at the heart and soul of this church and in fact any church.

In this talk, Jared Lidgerwood holds up a mirror toward the Christian family and looks at the different ways that we consider something to be wise. The point: worldly wisdom is not match for the foolishness of God who saves through Christ crucified. Really?

Sermon – Christmas Together (John 1)

Christmas is known to be a time where it is so easy to be consumed by the presents, pressure or preparations. Yet Christians know that Christmas can be so much more. It is the WORD becoming flesh and making his dwelling among us. These two talks look at what John 1:1-18 say to help us see what for many is the hidden message of Christmas. Happy Christmas.

Sermon – Aren’t All Religions the Same? (Acts 17:1-34/John 14:1-6)

Hot Topics Graphic

It is not unusual for all religions to be lumped into the same basket and dismissed collectively. Yet, even a cursory reading of the core texts of any religion will expose clear differences. What does Christianity offer that might helpfully encourage a person to look more deeply into the truths that the Bible reveals?

Sermon – Gathering to Proclaim Christ (Colossians 1:15-2:7)

2020 Vision

How good it would be to have 20/20 vision? So many opportunities open up to you when you can see with clarity. Colossians helps the Christians person to see clearly. And as Colossians is written to a church, the gathering of disciples, it helps to set our sights on what we might be able to do in ministry and mission for the cause of the gospel. The core business of an assembled group of Christians is to fulfil the commission which our Lord gave us – to go out and make disciples.
