Ken Noakes preaching at Trinity Hills. What is Paul’s approach when it comes to standing for the truth of the gospel.

In this, the second of three sermons on Gospel-drive guidance Geoff Lin shows us what the Bible has to say about how we can find out how God wants us to live (God’s moral will). Geoff explains how the Bible should be the primary way we discern this and reminds us in 2 Timothy 3:14 we read that the “holy Scriptures are able to make us wise for salvation”. Geoff then provides sound advice for as to how we should do this – by reading and being challenged by, the whole of the Bible – all of “God’s Word to us”.

Ken Noakes preaching at the Trinity City Friendship Service
Dear Church,
I received your invitation for the Easter Services in my letterbox this week. There was a nice note attached which seemed genuine. You are that church that I drive past on the way to the shops – with the tower – and the old sandstone? The sign out the front seems very friendly.
You seem to be an inviting church. I have been thinking about your invitation. Should I come?

I was asked the question: ‘What are the major challenges, and/or ministry opportunities, facing Australian churches in 2018?”
It is far above my station to be able to speak for just the church in which I serve let alone all Australian churches! And so with that caveat, I humbly offered this opinion in answer to that question:
Christians face the continued challenge to be in the world but not of it.
Imagine, after a long day, I drive home to find that the only thing remaining where my house once stood was its smoldering remains! And standing outside was my child holding a sign saying: ‘Hate the sin, Love the Sinner!’.
It is one thing to recognise that sin is bad – in fact so self-evident that there is no chance that it would not be seen! Yet it is a whole new level of self awareness to think that the sinful actions that caused damage and hurt should be separated from the person who caused the damage and hurt – such that the perpetrator should bear no responsibility!
Is it true that ‘God will never give you more than you can handle’? Did Jesus say so? The fourth topic in our ‘Five Things Jesus Never Said’ series!
