Read the text – Matthew 13:24-58

The Kingdom of Heaven may seem inconsequential now, but not always. Whoever has ears, hear. Do you?

In this Bible talk, Archie Poulos helps the listener to take Jesus seriously and to take note of his warning about the coming kingdom of heaven. For today, we are at war, and yet may not even realize it! He says: be amazed, not offended. And he says: Take note, don’t be distracted.

LMAP Women’s Retreat 2023 (2 Timothy)

What does it mean to live a gospel life? The Apostle Paul encourages his younger disciple Timothy to stand firm in the truth of the gospel knowing that suffering will come. Timothy is reminded not to be distracted because the reward of life in Christ is worth persevering for today. Erin Lidgerwood, Sarah McConville, Dani Holmes and Tamara Lindeback, teaching from the letter of 2 Timothy, help us to consider what this gospel life might look like for women at each stage of life.

Read the text – Matthew 13:1-23

In this Bible talk, Gary Haddon observes that how we listen and respond to the Gospels will reflect our understanding of the Lord Jesus. The Christian person should be eager to deepen their understanding and focus on God, and resist the distractions that can easily take them away. And in growing in faith, it is right to expect God to do his work in the person.

Sermon – Kingdom Coming: Chosen Servant (Matthew 12:1-21)

Read the text – Matthew 12:1-21

A Kingdom is marked by at least two things: A Monarch and his/her Subjects. In Matthew’s Gospel we meet the most extraordinary of kings in Jesus, the Son of God. Extraordinary not only because of what he did and what he promised for those who come before him, but extraordinary because of what he taught about his coming kingdom. Jesus, the Son of Man came to offer his kingdom to all who came before him. In this Bible talk, Nick Lindeback helps us to see Jesus fulfills the law which means for Christians today are no longer bound by it, by putting our trust and faith in him.

Sermon – Kingdom Coming: Judgement & Rest (Matthew 11:20-30)

Read the text – Matthew 11:20-30

Jesus has been questioned: ‘Are you the one who is to come?’ (Matt 11:3). His answer: look at the things that I have been doing. Those miracles along with what he has taught have shown him to be the promised King – yet some do not see it.

In this talk Nick Lindeback, shows us the judgement against those who will not see or accept Jesus, and the rest and hope that comes for those who do. For Jesus says: ‘Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest’ (Matt 11:28)

Sermon – Kingdom Coming: More than a Prophet (Matthew 11:1-19)

Read the text – Matthew 11:1-19

In this Bible Talk series, we cover a large block of the teaching from Jesus about the coming Kingdom of Heaven – chapters 11 through to 18. There is much to learn about the King and what it will mean for those who live in this kingdom. Knowing about this King and this kingdom is different to living for this King and Kingdom.

In this talk, Dave Swan reacquaints us with the gospel of Matthew as a historical and reliable source of knowing Jesus. And we, along with John the Baptist we ask the question: ‘Are you [Jesus] the one who is to come to save us?’

Sermon – Adoption and Fellowship (1 John 2:28-3:10)

Read the text – 1 John 2:28-3:10

Central to fellowship with God the Father is acknowledging his son and in turn living as a child of God. This talk is about confidence in the Christian faith – confidence that comes from being adopted as a child of God and experienced in the new birth that the Christian person enjoys.

In this talk Ken Noakes describes the process of moving towards a confident faith. And also, the process that person may go through in moving away from a confident faith.

Sermon – Forgiveness & Sin (1 John 1:5-2:2)

Read the text – 1 John 1:5-2:2

Sin is serious, and even Christians can live as if it isn’t! In this talk, Ken Noakes looks at what the Bible calls sin and helps us to understand more of what sin is and means for our world, our church and our person. Yet to sit right alongside the trauma that is sin, is the wonder that is forgiveness in Jesus. Sin we love yet we should hate. Whereas Forgiveness we want and we all need.
