Here is an ‘application summary’ for the book of Ezekiel.
Ezekiel 1 – The prophet Ezekiel receives a godly vision – The voice of the Almighty was heard and could not be ignored.
Ezekiel 2-3 – Ezekiel is told to speak, warn and dissuade each man from his evil ways in order to save his life.
Ezekiel 8-11 – God lifted Ezekiel up and showed him the idolatry of the house of Israel and the leaders of Judah. Are there idols in your life which would provoke God to jealousy?
Ezekiel 16 – Israel the Prostitute! Do not sell out to the world! Guard yourself. 1 – Never forget that all you have, you have because God has given it to you. 2 – Be careful so that you never misplace God’s gifts. 3 – Guard yourself against the world to ensure that you never make God’s gifts the reason for placing confidence in yourself or your abilities or your circumstances.
Ezekiel 18 – Israel was called to repent! The nature of sin tempts one to blame others rather take responsibility for one’s own sin. Avoid the trap – repent!
Ezekiel 21 – A Parable, Prophecy and Poem of Judgment – God is angry and just, but that does not mean he is unloving.
Ezekiel 25-32 – The pattern and purpose of the judgment of God against the other nations – that they will know that Yahweh is Lord. The best way – through Jesus. An obvious way – by looking at the world God has given. A difficult way – in experiencing the judgement of God.
Ezekiel 34 – Israel the sheep should know the voice of their Shepherd. Leaders – you are shepherds in the name of Jesus, so selflessly care for your flock. All of us – enjoy the blessings of being in Christ’s flock and ensure you don’t make it difficult for others to enjoy the same blessings.
Ezekiel 37 – Real hope and expectation – now because of Christ. Lord over death and division. Lord over us.
Ezekiel 43 – Israel is called to watch and wait – faithfully. 1 – Because Christ has come the end is near. 2 – Heaven will make the wait worth it. 3 – Spend these days in good company – Christian Company!
THE LORD IS THERE. (Ezekiel 47:35)
