Sermon – Pictures of Judgement and Grace: The Army of the LORD (Isaiah 13:1-20:6)

Read the text – Isaiah 13:1-20:6

The people of Judah face a number of crises from within (their own sin) and without (the alliance of Israel and Syria, the power of Assyria). Who will they trust to rescue them? Themselves? Foreign Nations? or God Almighty?

In this sermon, Dave Swan shows how God is in control of all nations and all of history, and how he will use the nations, even when their actions are evil, to bring about his good will. God’s will cannot be thwarted or derailed, and his goal is to bring about salvation for his people.

Sermon – Gospel-driven guidance: Discovering God’s Word to us

In this, the second of three sermons on Gospel-drive guidance Geoff Lin shows us what the Bible has to say about how we can find out how God wants us to live (God’s moral will). Geoff explains how the Bible should be the primary way we discern this and reminds us in 2 Timothy 3:14 we read that the “holy Scriptures are able to make us wise for salvation”.  Geoff then provides sound advice for as to how we should do this – by reading and being challenged by, the whole of the Bible – all of “God’s Word to us”.

Sermon – Gospel-driven guidance: Discovering God’s plan for your life

Geoff Lin shows that the Bible differentiates between God’s sovereign will and God’s moral will. He then goes on to explain from the Bible, why understanding that distinction will help us to live in a way that does align with God’s will and also frees us from anxiety about the decisions we face each day.
