Read the text – Psalm 139Luke 1:39-45

Audio Recording

God gives Life. We are fearfully and wonderfully made by God – and we need to make choices to protect the sanctity of life (mother and child) even in hard or unwanted circumstances.

In this talk, Ken Noakes looks at the wonderful, sometimes difficult, and always emotive topic of start of life matters with particular reference to decisions about medical termination (abortion).

The approach here is pastoral as the Christian response should always be one of embrace and comfort as we draw towards both mother and child in Christian faith.

Sermon – Adoption and Fellowship (1 John 2:28-3:10)

Read the text – 1 John 2:28-3:10

Central to fellowship with God the Father is acknowledging his son and in turn living as a child of God. This talk is about confidence in the Christian faith – confidence that comes from being adopted as a child of God and experienced in the new birth that the Christian person enjoys.

In this talk Ken Noakes describes the process of moving towards a confident faith. And also, the process that person may go through in moving away from a confident faith.

Sermon – Apostles’ Creed: ‘I believe in the Holy Spirit’

Read the texts – Ezekiel 36:22-30Romans 8:1-17

In this talk we look at the third ‘I believe’ statement in the Apostles’ Creed. Glen Connor, looking at Romans 8:1-17 shows us five aspects of how the Holy Spirit works in the life of a believer: to free us from sin and death, change our mindset towards God, to guarantee our resurrection, to bring holiness in the life of the believer, and makes us God’s children.

Sermon – God’s Own People (Romans 8:5-17)

Romans 1-8 Slide

The most important thing for Christians to do – especially when we find ourselves continuing to sin – is not to do, but to be; to be “in the Spirit” – that is, to belong to God through Christ and submit to his rule. Pleasing God is the work he does in us by his Spirit, as his Spirit leads us and confirms that we are God’s children and heirs, and enables us to call him “Father”.
